Who We Are

At Halqa, we offer a complete platform for managing Quran memorization circles. It brings teachers, their students, the students' parents, and centers together in one place, so a teacher can follow each student's memorization and review and assess their progress. Because some of our users are children, we are committed to collecting as little data as possible and protecting it carefully. This policy briefly explains what we collect and why.

What We Collect

When you register, we ask for your email, a password, your name, a username, and your date of birth, along with some optional details such as phone, country, and city. We also store your time zone so that tasks and reviews are scheduled at the right time.

As you use the app, we store your learning activity: memorization and review sessions, tasks and their progress, attendance and points, teacher evaluations, and in-app messages. When a learner records their recitation, the recording is uploaded to our servers and shared with their teacher for assessment — this is the core of the service.

Some things stay on your device and never reach us, such as your Mushaf bookmarks, highlights, last reading position, and reading preferences.

What We Don't Do

No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics tools, and no advertising identifiers. We don't ask for your location, your contacts, or your camera. Most importantly, we don't sell your data or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Who We Share With

Inside the app, a teacher sees the data of the students linked to them, and a parent sees their children's progress — this is simply how the app works. Outside the app, we rely on infrastructure providers that process data only on our behalf: our database (Neon), file and recording storage (Cloudflare R2), email delivery for messages like password resets (Resend), and app builds and updates (Expo). Quran text and audio are loaded from public sources without sending any of your information.

Children

A child does not create their own account; a parent creates it from their own device and fully oversees it, with no email or password for the child. Before creating the account, the parent explicitly agrees that the child's voice may be recorded during memorization, uploaded to our servers, and shared with the child's teacher for assessment. For a child, we collect only their name and date of birth. A parent can review their child's data, or delete the child's account and all their recordings, at any time.

Deleting Your Data

An adult deletes their own account, and a parent deletes their child's account. We keep only the minimum necessary when required for security or legal reasons.

Security and Your Rights

All communication with our servers is encrypted, and passwords are stored using one-way encryption that cannot be read back. You can access, correct, and delete your data and withdraw your consent — mostly right inside the app. Halqa is available internationally, and your data may be processed in other countries under the same protections described here.
